What’s up Moosers!
This week was an amazing time with Little Boots at Summer Home and the MDA takeover at Kitsch on Sunday, Dena Amy at La Cave on Wednesday, House of Hustle takeover at Que Sera in Long Beach Friday night, and 900 Block’s Hideaway Vol. 6 in Los Angeles on Saturday night. Needless to say, this week was filled with quality music. Some of my picks this week are songs I’ve heard while out and about, but a couple are from the dark recesses of my music library as I’ve been digging for my forgotten gems.
Without further adieu, here are this week’s picks in no particular order:
Jay Robinson - The Return
I’m not sure if I’ve heard a song by Jay Robinson yet that I don’t like. He has been a mainstay at Night Bass and his songs are so much fun to drop in a set. The title track off his Return EP continues the trend, and was even picked by Insomniac as a track of the day.
Mark Knight & D. Ramirez v Underworld - Downpipe (Original Club Mix)
I’ve really been digging Mark Knight lately and Downpipe is an absolute classic collaboration between Mark Knight, D. Ramirez, and Underworld. Toolroom Records has been a huge inspiration for me. Their tech house song is iconic and Downpipe is a flagship track for crew at Toolroom.
Cera Alba feat. Zehra - Taking Over Me (Tiger Stripes Remix)
I heard the Tiger Stripes remix of Taking Me Over at the House of Hustle takeover on Friday night and WOW the place went off. This has been in my library for a couple of weeks now without being played out, but now I am definitely going to make it a point to.
Nobody - I <3 Acid
I nearly forgot about this gem in my collection. I love the acid house sound so much that one of my first hardware synthesizers was a Roland TB3, the reboot of Roland’s classic TB303 which defined acid house. I <3 Acid is one of my favorite tracks from the genre so you can definitely expect to hear this in a Moose set soon.
Vanilla Ace - Night Steppin’
Little Boots dropped Night Steppin’ toward the end of her set on Sunday and I went bonkers. I love Vanilla Ace and I did not expect her to play any tracks by him, but she did and it was amazing. Handle this one with care.
That’s it for this week, tune in next week for five more dancefloor destroyers.
Until next time Moosers.
